Antbody know what kind of box Colt SAA's came in that were made in 2000? Were they using the blue plastic box at that time???

  Not SURE but I suspect Brown paper box with Styrofoam insert

  I believe that Perry Shooter is describing the "wood grain box".
  
  But, that date is close to when they changed to the burgundy cardboard box with styrofoam insert.
  
  I don't know the size.

  Perry shooter is correct, Neal, but you are right in that there was a change not long thereafter, 1986 to be exact, which was when the box reddish in color without the wood-grain pattern came out. There are, however, a lot of details that have to do with box sizes, end labels, inserts, etc.
  
  Added: The box you are looking for will be wood-grained and of a reddish brown tint with a two piece styrofoam core, with a cut-out on the interior top of the lid for the paperwork packet. Shades would often vary with the lots.

  I have an SAA from '78, and my box is wood grain and has a styrofoam insert.
