2 ?s about hornady ammo
I was looking at their new steel match ammo in .223 and was wondering if it is considered reloadable?
I have read that their "Super performance" ammo may exceed safe pressures for an AR platform and was wondering if anyone could confirm this.

NO the steel cases are not reloadable. My understanding is that Hornady buys the berdan primed cases and loads them with their powder and bullets.
I doubt that the SP ammo would be over pressure in an AR. It might generate higher than normal port pressure but that's not as much of an issue as in some older military gas operated designs.0 -
No, the steel cases are not reloadable. For the price of the ammo, you are getting a one, and done.
The Superformance ammunition line, is similar to their Light Magnum, and Heavy Magnum line. It relies on proprietary propellants, and propellant blends for its number's. While the velocity number's are higher, the pressures stay at normal operating pressures, or very little above.
