Hello, i understand that a compensator must be pinned in place if the the barrel is threaded BUT is it legal to have just a thread protector in place with no compensator?

  In our beloved state, ANY barrel that is threaded, has to have either a muzzle device like a compensator, or thread protector, that is pinned, and welded over the pin. I have also heard that chemically bonding is also acceptable, as once it sets it is permanant.
