Would a 1st generation Colt SSA have stag grips, could this be orriginal? Do Second generation Colt SSA'a have just one serial number or are they numbered on the frame, backstrap and trigger guard

  First Gen guns could be had with a number of different types of grips .A letter from colt "available for a price " will tell you what grips were on it when factory shipped.In my opinion even thou a letter is $$$ it is money well spent, on any SAA that you feel is correct. One your second ? you do know that on some First gen guns I think around 1926. thet started putting the serial numbers on the grip frames on the grip frame side hidden by the grips themself.
