They have a number for customer service/orders: 866-788-7386. Maybe they can give you some information about the company.

The original Weaver Co. went out of business over 20 years ago. The scopes that have been sold under their name in recent years have Asian made components. They are either completely assembled over there or the parts are brought over here so they can be sold as U.S. made.

You get what you pay for as far as optics are concerned. Just because the Weaver name was well known for quality U.S. made optics in the past, doesn't mean squat when you actually getting Asian made scopes.

Practically all optics today are Asian, and from a only a few glass manufactures; however, they produce a quality level according to the scope makers specs on glass. Vietnam supplies sand used to make the glass, as it is one of the purest sands available.

Absolutely noting wrong with Asian scopes, and like most things, there are good ones, and some not so good.

ALL of Leupold glass is made in Asia. Period. And only their Gold Ring scopes are made in the US, and they still use the Asian glass, since all the glass comes from Asia.

Other Leupold scopes are made overseas.

This is from Leupold's customer service awhile back:

"All Leupold Gold Ring products are made here in Beaverton Oregon. Always have been. The glass has always come from Asia. In order for us to acquire the quantity of optical glass that we need and the quality that we need that has always been our best source. But everything else is made and built here in Beaverton Oregon. Sharon"

I think you are right about the rough glass coming from Asia but I think the finish is cut here in the states.

Schmidt and Bender is the only scope maker that actually makes everthing that goes into their scopes. Everyone else assembles scopes made from out sourced components.
