The frame numbers to Remington Rand so you have a mixed parts gun.
Ithaca was the worst of the 1911A1 made during the war according to Clawson. Fit, finish, and specs were the reason the contract was cancelled so soon. That's why they are uncommon.

After rechecking the numbers, I was in error. It is an Ithaca frame.

My Clawson book indicates that the frame is an Ithaca made in 1945.

Your assessment may or may not be correct. It would be best if you posted photos showing all markings on your gun, including those on the barrel after it is removed from the gun.

EDIT: Well, many of your pics are out of focus or poorly lit, but I think that your 1911A1 Ithaca (it's not a Colt, it's an Ithaca) is as you described, maybe even better than the 95% you estimated. It has the correct Flannery barrel, & USGI WW2 contract magazines (L=Little, R=Risdon). You can shoot it, but it is definitely a desirable "collector".

EDIT 2: If you do an ADVANCED search on COMPLETED auctions (select NO RESERVE AUCTIONS and SHOW HIGHEST NUMBER OF BIDS FIRST, you should be able to find a gun close to the condition of yours. While I don't think it will hurt the gun to fire it occasionally, carrying in a holster will cause finish wear.

EDIT #1, With the escalating value of original condition Ithaca 1911A1's, best to keep it in pristine condition, IMHO. Chances are it would be worth $1,500-$2,000 to a collector, maybe more.

If you want a 1911 type pistol as a shooter their are any number of relatively inexpensive imports you can obtain for less then $500.

I finally got on photobucket and I hope this works- I'm not what you would call computer savvy and this is the first time I have had to go thru a photo hosting site. Here goes;yelnif549
CRAP!!! when I previewed this- it comes up with a red 'x' in the box and it will not show the pics. any suggestions appreciated?
mike wiskey- how do you transfer from photobucket to here? they are in an album there by themselves.
I was able to load the pics on imageshack-finally- but CAN NOT get them over here either[:(!] What do I need to do-help-???
If this was my old '77 4x4 chev (1/2 million mi.+) I would have had it fixed by now. Maybe I just need to make this pistol a shooter /load it/ and use this crap computer as the target!

Thanks Neal for the info- so if it's a desirable collector, won't it hurt the value to carry/shoot this pistol? What do you feel it is worth as a collector?

Your photobucket account is set for private (password protected) viewing only.

You have to open the images up to the public if you want to link to them in a post like this.

    Go to "Account settings"
    Then "Album settings".
Then slide the slider to "public" for the album in question.
