    I'm sure it could be slicked some, perhaps 1/2 what it is. Parts look hard to get in case you ruin them by taking too much. Your local gun/pistolsmith should be able to tell what they can do for x amount of $.

    Savage Model 1917's are 90+ year old collectors items now. I definitely wouldn't be screwing with the trigger mechanism, unless you have replacement parts on hand. Try a good internal cleaning and lube first, prior to doing anything to the trigger/sear linkage.

    A few years back I had a gunsmith tell me that if one messes with the trigger it is too easy to end up with full auto. But maybe he just didn't want to work on it.
