It will work fine as long as it is either "cylinder bore" or "improved cylinder". With the 20" you will also be able to use a magazine extension for added capacity for defense work.

I cut back my Express to 20 inch and installed screw in chokes. My favorite is marked skeet #2. You should pattern your gun at the expected distance. #4 Buck has about twice the pellet count of OO. Even with a smooth bore my lyman 540 gr sabot slugs could catch a deer at nearly 100 yards. Installed mid bead gives two aiming points, extended mag tube adds weight to help soak up recoil.

I have the slug barrel with rifle sights in 12 ga. you are considering ( also ext. mag.) and with #4 buck I have won 3 turkey shoots @ 35 yrds. The #4 buck is great for home def. and the ext. mag does help with recoil. good luck I think you'll be happy with it.

My 870 uses only 2 3/4" shells. Will this barrel work on my gun.

Huh? Should be the other way around, if your receiver was made for 2.75", the 3" barrel works fine, as long as you're not shooting 3" shells.
