Snap in Sights?

Any one know what these sights were used on? Apparently they snap in place.

  That's a toughie.
  
  I'm sure they do fit a specific model, but I can't name it, and they look like generic rear rifle sights to me.
  
  The slot is probably for a toothed ramp as a crude way of adjusting elevation (see below).
