S&W model 745
I bought the 745 back in the 1990's.The manual shows that an
Ambidexterous safty is available.I call S&W and they said it never was available.Would not give me any info.Does anybody have anything on this model.I've never seen another one for sale.Was it for competition?

"The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson", has a small section regarding it.
5,000 made between 1986/1990. 9 variations listed, ( different product codes). Serial number range, DVC0001-DVC5000.
If your interested in S & W's, you might consider acquiring, the above book. It considered the bible by S & W collectors and it's up to the 3rd edition now.0 -

The SN range listed above are not the only serial numbers you will find a 745 with. DVC is usually associated with the IPSC 10th Anniversary Commerative. Nine different product codes were made.
Best bet is to get it lettered by S&W.0 -
I had one - it was built from the factory for competion,, mine diod not have the ambi safety,, ther are not many around, period- 0 -
I have one - blued slide and stainless frame. Mine has the target adjustable Wichita rear sight, no ambi safety though. I've seen a fair number of 745s but never one with an ambi safety. 0 -

i have one.. it has an ambi safety.. It was installed by Novaks .45 shop in Parkersberg West Va 0
