Lahti info requested
I have a chance to pick up a M/40 Swedish Lahti tomorrow. I have read that the slides were prone to cracking. If this is not cracked, I plan on picking it up. My question is, would standard standard 9 m/m be safe to shoot in it or do I need to to "download" for this?

My understanding is that the problem is caused by the Accelerator Lever. This Lever was designed specifically to enhance reliable operation in the very cold inclement weather found in Scandinavia. Firing high velocity, high pressure, Suomi submachine gun ammo in the Lathi in conjunction with the Lever supposedly caused the problem(s).
The Accelerator Lever is located in upper section of the pistol. This is where the bolt reciprocates. Remove the Accelerator Lever and don't use hot ammo. Hopefully it won't crack, if it hasn't already.
Pick up a copy of the NRA Pistols and Revolvers Handbook. It has a section on the Lahti. Showing how to remove the Accelerator Lever.0 -

Nice pistol but heavy as a boat anchor. I have never had a problem shooting mine with reg 9mm ammo, 0 -

yblockhead....I think you will like it. If you want to add to it you can go to Shotgun News and they sell the holster and tool to go with it along with extra mags. I bought mine years ago as a complete Swede kit (when I was in my Swede Mode and buying everything Swede including M98/38's, helmets and such) and as a kit, it is pretty nice. Good shooting[:D]0 -

I picked up the pistol, Sam Browne belt,black holster, 3 mags and loading tool for a good price. I can't tell you, as my wife might be reading this! I have been doing research and found that this one was part of a 10,000 lot that went to Denmark in 1944 for "police" use.
Sill looking forward to taking it out soon.0 -

yblockhead....I think you will like the pistol. With the black holster it might be the original "kit" as most military Swede Lahti's that I have seen have the brown leather holster...and since black usually means "police" you are probably looking at the real deal. Like all Swede's, it is made to last and should do you well. As to the wife...we will never tell[;)]0
