Old Remington 700 question
Hello I just came across an old remington model 700 in 3006. it has a serial number of 1495 and has a metal butplate that says remington on it. any idea on age? is this 1st year of production.
condition is probably 80%. would this be worth more than a typical 700 due to serial number on this? thanks in advance

I have a model 725 that was built right before the model 700. Mine also has the metal buttplate and is similar to a BDL.
With a 4 digit serial number I would say 1st year---I think would be 1962.[:p]0 -
Will this help you date your rifle?

The date code on the barrel is the key, as has been listed.
I have a 700 BDL in 7 Rem mag that was built in June of 62.

thanks post the auction links again they did not work right. 0 -
The 700s were introduced in early Summer 1962, Model 700 69XX was made in June 1962, so I'd guess that 1495 was made in either May or June 1962 0 -
