17 hornet

I been using a 17hmr for some years now to stroke a few bunny's out with great success. How does the 17 hornet fair up ??

  Are there any 17 Hornet rifles out there actually for sale? I see models posted on the Savage website. I see ammo for sale. I hear Ruger will offer it, but I see no guns for sale anywhere.

  I havent been able to get any of these in. Obviously its a center fire so the ballistics will be much better than the rimfire 17..

  The 17 Hornet will give you killing accuracy and power on woodchuck size critters out to 200 yds. The 17 Fireball (17MIV) will extend the range to 300 yds.

  If you're going centerfire , go the .17Rem Fireball, aka the old wildcat, .17 Mach IV, but now that it has been legitimized, factoty ammo, brass, and standard dies are available. No need to form cases.
  Big fun "cause you are able to see your target in the scope at impact because of the lack of recoil. Ask Me how I Know!!!

  The 17 Hornet Ackley Improved is shown in PO Ackleys book. 12 grains 4198 gr pushes 25 gr bullet to 3585fps while 11.5 gr 4227 results in 3570 fps for the 25gr bullet. Considerably faster than the rimfire. The Ackley improved gains 100-200 fps over the factory Hornet.
