WHAT SERIAL # DID THEY START DRILLING & TAPING

  The specific serial number is not known, but it ocurred somewhere in the upper 20,000 range.
  
  There is one absolutely positive physical indication of a factory drilled and tapped Model 43. If the face of the rear bridge does not have the milled 45-degree bevel, it was factory drilled and tapped. Those that have the 45-degree bevel on the top edge of the rear bridge should not be drilled & tapped.

  Very informative once again. My uncle has a Model 43 but in .218 Bee. It's drilled and tapped but I don't know if it's factory. He bought it as a present to himself upon his return from Korea in '51/'52(?).
