I'm pretty sure it's 32 gauge? Years ago I ran into a guy at a gunshow selling one as a "Flare Pistol", which it most definitely isn't. Since most folks don't have a clue to what it is, and 32 gauge shells are virtually nonexistent in the U.S.,I wouldn't sweat it.

EDIT #1, Bite my tongue! I just GOOGLED "32 gauge shotgun shells". Midway sells them. Tell him to throw that damm thing in the nearest lake, or cut it up with a hacksaw. Before the JBT's kick in his door for a 0600 wake-up call.

According to wikipedia, bore diameter for 32 gauge is .526 inch. That doesn't seem to match. I'd love for someone who actually has a 32 gauge shotshell to slap a micrometer on it and tell me base and rim dimensions.

So, if it is smoothbore, it is a sawn off shotgun, therefore illegal, if it were rifled, it would be like any T/C contender.
**you got to laugh about our gun laws, if not, you'll cry**

Per, "Cartridges of the World", by Barnes. Rim diameter is .640. Base diameter is .580, for 32 Gauge.

The only way it could be made legal is to epoxy a rifled 45 Colt liner in the barrel. Not likely that would be cost effective, considering the hourly rate that competent gunsmiths charge nowadays.
