Have him check the Blue Book. There is a listing of all Winchester cataloged commemoratives, it's in the back of the Winchester section.

1000 of the Oklahoma Diamond Jubilee were made in 1982. BB has them priced for less then their actual 1982 cost of $2,250.

It would probably sell in the $1,200-$1,500, depending upon condition & accessories.

But, I'd pay no more than $250. It's not a Winchester, it's a USRA. And, I'd shoot it because, well, that's what I do. And, I'd want a gun in a common caliber like .30-30, not an expensive exotic cartridge. But, that's me; your grandfather may have other ideas.

I agree with Neal. for that money I would buy another nice pre-64 in .30-30 or .32 special, and then go deer hunting.

IMHO commendatory firearms are one if not THE poorest choices one cam
make in buying fire-arms.buy a gold coin .You have to keep both in a box. Once either is used it looses half it's value but at least a coin will go up in value. The commendatory on the other hand will more then likely go down in value .fewer and fewer people Collect this type of GUN and lkie Bert H stated Winchester collectors don't want them as they are made after Winchester was sold. I bought one Colt SAA years ago for the Bling. I keep it for 2 Reasons #1 I cant get what I paid for it contrary to just about every other one I ever bought and #2as a reminder to SELF to never buy another one no matter what.

I would skip it all together for investment purposes, as rufe has stated, the current BB value(which is only fictional), is less than the retail issue price. It has lost money, and will continue to do so. Perhaps even half a grand($500.00 would be a bit much.

That said, if I could not get it for under $500.00, then I would get a real Winchester.
