I'm considering bidding on this. What do you guys think of it? It is re-blued, but looks nice.

At least the seller is honest, and makes no bones about the refinishing. Don't see that value, i.e. $1500, at all though. For a commercially refinished 1911, that seems ludicrous to me. Maybe it's me, and I'm just an old fud, not knowing what guns are selling for nowadays? 0 -
I share rufe-snow's analysis; just doesn't seem like a refinished 1911 is worth more than $800.
If it were me, I'd rather pick up a Colt John Browning commemorative reproduction like this for $650:

Thanks for the responses. I have been looking for an early 1911 with an original finish. Really beat up ones, with hardly any blue, are pulling $1,100 plus auction fees at my local auction. The decent ones I watched on GB are going for $2,500 to $3,200.
I can tell you there is not a single WWI 1911 on GB for $800.0 -
I sold a 1916 (I think) vintage 1911 that was all original except the barrel. Sold it to a member here on GB for less tha $1,800, it was a nice gun.
Point is, I, like others here, don't beleave a refinished early era 1911 is worth that kind of money.

Hummm....interesting gun. One side of me agrees with Rufe and others about the price...but the other side of me says...."...nice gun." It is what it is, and the seller seems to be very honest. The reblue job looks first class and the barrel looks great! I would not go more than the present bid however...choices...choices[?] 0 -
i don't care what everyone else says but that is one nice weapon.
if i was in the market it would be in my sights to buy. that is a good price even if refinished.
the mags would bring a couple hundred bucks.
its almost 100 years old and in excellent condition
you have your diehards that won't be found dead with a refinish gun,
but try to find a original and see what they go for[:0] 5-10k[:0]
so IMO 15 bills is a good investment.0 -
