    Ray B,all the way to left center in your picture.Would be just to right of forend stock if it was locked in place.Also, the A is stamped in the opposite direction than letters in the word Winchester.

    The 37A is built in Canada none of the parts fit the 37.tks.hedge[:D]

    I try to stay as far away as I can get from the 37A. I have a few 37's with the "A" on the receiver. Sure would like to know what that "A" stands for!

    I read an article years ago about a 37 marked with initial AJ on the frame. The article claimed it was a factory inspectors mark.

    jlm1943,the AJ that you are refering to is on the lower tang of receiver behind trigger guard. The large "A" that I am refering to is by itself underneath receiver to the front.Thank you.

    Though I would top list again.Anyone know what that large "A" to left of Red Letter Winchester lettering stands for? Thank you.
