Reloading brass issue

Have used 300 WSM. Reloading less than maximum loads. I have had 20% of the neck shoulders split or burn through where the neck meets the shoulder???

  Bad brass (inclusions, or other defects). Has nothing to do with how you loaded it.

  How many times has the brass been fired? Each time it is fired and rsized, it has to move brass from somewhere, to someplace else. This usually is in the area, just ahead of the web, of the head of the case. However, many subsequent neck sizings, can also thin the area in front of the shoulder, where the case neck joins.

  Moderate loads will delay this inevitable condition.

  Annealing every fifth loading may help to restore the elasticity of the brass and put this off for a few cycles.

  Are they nickle plated????

  My Winchester WSM brass has a lot of wrinkles in the shoulder. It's bound to fail in that area. .300 WSM is bad but .270 WSM is worse. I probably should have sent it back.
