1894 rifle proof marks

Did 1894 rifles have proof marks in the 2714xx serial number range? Also when did gunbroker first start on internet? Thanks

  I believe Gunbroker began in 1999.

  Here is a link to the Winchester 1894 page on the experts forum. It has an abundant amount amount of information on the 1894. Unfortunately it does not have, to when they started proof marking the reciever and barrels. Yours dates to the 1904-1905 time frame, and I am sure that Bert H will be along to fill you in on all the details, and ask you some questions about your rifle, for his survey.

  Hello Mark,
  
  Winchester first began proof marking the Model 1894 in May of 1905, circa serial number 266000. Serial number 271400 should have proof marks on it.
