Re-barreling a Mannlicher
I have two mannlicher actions one is a Y1903/14/30 military action with a barrel, and the other is a Y1903/14/27 Breda action with out a barrel. Both actions need new barrels, and I want to keep the 6.5x54ms caliber and can find barrel companies that chamber this cartridge. However finding someone that can thread and do the head spacing is another problem. Is there a company out there that can duplicate the barrel, including the chamber and threading, I have and get it right? Or do I need to find someone who has done this before? I can do it myself but would prefer someone that has done it several times. Also is there any difference in an Y1903/14/30 barrel and a Y1903/14/27? I know that there were modifications made to the to the Y1903/14/27 from the original 1903 model but I'm unsure if there were any changes made form the Y1903/14/27 to the Y1903/14/30 models other than where they were manufactured.

Google Y1903/14/30 military provides lots of info. You might be able to find a correct bbl and change it yourself and have everything work out fine but it's doubtful.
Chances are you will need the services of a real gunsmith to take a blank 6.5 bbl and make it fit your action. A big checkbook will help.0 -
Pac Nor says they will rebarrel this that the other and "most others." Duplication of an existing barrel contour is $35 extra.
ER Shaw could probably fit a barrel but I do not see where they will turn one to match an existing barrel.0
