I want a 1903a3. I don't want junk. I plan on purchasing within the next month. I have been looking and reading a little. I like James River, just because of the new barrels. I believe it's the best way to go. Any other thoughts or suggestions? 0 -
James River rifles are excellent quality commercial rebuilds. They do fine work. But, their rifles are not "collectible", & never will be.
Worth considering would be an original finish 1903A3, or even an arsenal rebuilt 1903A3. These will always be "collectible". I bought this original finish gun on GB for $625:

Recently, a guy posted a sob story about his James River 03A3 having bedding/stock fit problems. He undertook to rebed and ended up with an ugly piece. 0 -
You should take your time and research the various models, because you find out you really would like an 'O3 instead of the '03A3. Spend some time and effort at local gunshows or drive to a big show for a weekend getaway to research, talk to people, handle a number of Springfields to get a good idea of what you really want and what the market for them really is.
You may find out that in your region the market may be lower due to an abundance of Springfields or the opposite. While traveling for business, I came across Springfields in small gun shops, swap meets and gun shows.0
