870 "BRUSHMASTER" rear site?
Sirs,
I have a new to me older 12g 870 combo with both the 28" full choke barrel and the 19 1/2 " BRUSHMASTER" slug tube.
The rear sight on the slug barrel is the spring steel type and I think it has a piece missing. Shouldn't there be a sliding, wedge shaped thingie to change the elevation between the barrel base mount and the long spring steel piece that holds the sight aperture? Kinda like on my "Speedmaster" .22
If so, where can I find a replacement?
I have searched 2 different parts suppliers and the factory web site and a couple of sites that shows schematics but have had no luck with any info on the "BRUSHMASTER" barrel.
HELP... Somebody Hellllllpppppp me....
Thanks in advance,
DAVE

Yes, if I am reading you correctly. Any gunstore should have one. You can make one easy enough. Once sighted in, you will never change it. From your description, the sight should have a long slot for the sliding adjuster, not a threaded hole for a screw adjustment. 0 -
Lots of styles of elevators. I'd just file one out of some steel that fits in the slot.

Yes slotted. I have found "O" info on the barrel or part availability for the sight. 0 -
The site slot is .060 wide. The catalog does not give the thickness of the elevator, only states "wide" or "narrow" for a "Marlin". 0 -
O.K. found one that is .050 wide. Seems to me .010 is too much clearance. I left a message on the Brownells site if this is the one that will work #080-506-002WB.
Thanks gentlemen for the help!0 -
0.010" clearance is just fine. These are supposed to be able to slide back and forth, and rely on the spring tension of the sight to lock it down.
