I just faced the same decision and put the G36 on layaway. Just liked the slimmer fit in my hand a LITTLE bit more. Not as much capacity, but just a little more comfortable.
Don't think you could go wrong with either one though. I currently own a G22 and previously owned/shot a G23, G20, & G29 and every one of them impressed me in some way shape or form. The constant with them all....reliable as hell! [;)]

Well, if you must, lets resort to reasoning.
If one is going to go to that size of a gun, it is for concealment. It is much easier to conceal the single stack 36, than the double stack 30. If you need the extra capacity of the 30, then you are looking at the wrong gun completely, and need to go to the Model 21.
My vote is for the 36, and I wish they would make a single stack version like this in 10mm.

I have had my 30 for 6 years and like it. I have found the 21 to not fit my hand. I like the fact that the 21 mag will work in the 30. I have 2 friends that also have 30s and love them. 0 -
I've never fired a 30 but I recently shot the 36 and loved it. Like the others said, will the 6+1 capacity of the 36 fit your mission profile? Almost every consideration involves a compromise of sorts. In the summer I carry a Kahr MK40. The recoil is tamed (well, kind of) by its heavy weight but then you have to wear a belt for shorts and trousers. It is so small it is easy to conceal but one mag carries 5+1 and the others 6+1. I give up capacity for concealability. 0 -
I've carried many handguns over the years for self-protection and law enforcement work, but since I bought a G36 all the others stay in the safe. The only negative, in my opinion, is that it lacks a traditional safety. Mine has night sights with an oversize front ball and rear post. 0 -
I bought a G30 when they first came out. It was quite accurate but did not fit my hand well. I would generally have to regrip after a couple double taps or at least once when firing a full magazine.
I shot a friends G36, sold the G30 and bought a G36. It fits my hand better and I like the size also.
I also have a G21...great gun but not exactly concealable for most people0 -
When I got my CC I shopped around a lot for a small, but powerful, pistol. I have rather small hands and when I found the G36 I stopped the search. The G36 fit my needs perfectly...plenty of power, single stack (slimmer), easy concealability, night sights available (which I have). I actually prefer my 1911cc but carrying it around all day is like a boat anchor on my side, so the G36 gives me the same power in a smaller package. Mine is a first generation and I am thinking of an upgrade to it.....I don't think you can go wrong. 0 -
G36 fits me much better and conceals mo bettuh 0 -
I carry a 36 for cc and have no complaints. Only thing I changed was installed night sites. Very accurate and concealable for a 45.[:)] 0
