what to choose? glock?
Never held on to a polymer long without trading it. But have never owned or put many rounds through glock. 3 dot sight fan. Never felt right.like my 1911. narrowed my choice to xds, m&p shield, glock 30, glock 26/19. Would like to point out I have a good supply of .45 acp rounds. And no longer own any 9mm. but 2 45s. What would you choose.

The XDs is on my list to buy. It fits MY hand perfectly. If you're not a fan of polymer why not just get a subcompact 1911...and if you want really small then there is the Springfield EMP in .40 or a Para LDA Carry version. 0 -
You may want to look at the FEG GKK 45ACP model. It looks like a Browning Hi Power and has a single stack magazine. It is a double action first shot and has a safety that drops a cocked hammer.
The GKK is said to be similar to a S&W 4566 model. The GKK has a 4.25 inch barrel like the 4566. Both models can be found on GB for sale.0 -

Each and every different model, and manufacture of pistol is as individual, as the perspective buyer's/owner's, who will carry them. Get which ever one fits you the best, weather it be a S&S M&P 45, Glock, Springfield XD, Beretta PX4 Storm, or the Ruger P345. Handle them all, and shoot them if you can. They are all about the same in quality, reliability, and accuracy...albeit, the the GLOCK, is the GOLDEN STANDARD of Combat Tupperware.

So let me get this straight:
-You like your 1911, but
-You want a polymer gun.
-So far every polymer gun you've tried, you didn't care for.
-You want three dot sights.
-You haven't spent much time with Glocks.
Is that right?
You didn't mention which polymer guns you've tried, and why you didn't like them. You also didn't mention what exactly you want to do with this gun. Those things matter.
But even without that information, my suggestion to you is to keep the 1911 and forget about the polymer.
If you've already tried several polymer guns (including a Glock), and you didn't care for any of them, its unlikely that a Glock will suddenly be "the one" that you like. Yes, there are differences in action type and safety mechanisms, but many of the other guns are more or less "Glock" like. Oversimplifying, the XD is like a Glock, but with a more 1911-like grip and grip safety. The Smith is like a Glock, but with a more 1911-like grip and an external safety.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a 1911, and if you like it, why go somewhere else?
If your issue is that you want something for concealed carry, but you're finding a full 1911 to be too heavy (and bluntly, if so, I don't blame you), then you could go for one of the compact alloy-frame or even polymer 1911s. There are quite a selection of those out there right now.
Go check out the Kimber Solo carry in 9mm luger. That's a small light gun (aluminum alloy frame) designed specifically to retain 1911-like ergonomics for concealed carry. It has nice BIG white three dot sights, too.

Smith and Wesson has a 3" bbl compact scandium-aluminum alloy frame 1911 that weighs only 27 ounces. (Full sized 1911 weighs about 40oz).0 -

The Rock River is a full size 1911 & they are not on dealers shelves(at least not in the WA, ID & OR gun shops I've been in). I have an email into them to see when their poly 1911 will be out as I want a stable mate to my Rock River AR. 0 -
I love my Glock 30. I have several 1911s. I also have Glock 17 and 22. The Glock 30 is a great carry gun. 0 -

Im a working Deputy Sheriff and carry a Glock 30 daily and have so since 2008. I carry it in an ankle holster, fanny pack and several strong side holsters. Probably have about 3K rounds through the weapon without a hiccup. Easy to clean and maintain. easy to find parts and if you take an armorer course you can work on it yourself. It will do anything I ask it to. Can't say enough about GLOCKs, the company and customer support.

I never liked the looks of Glocks and was told the XD would fit my hand better. At a recent gun show, I held XD's and Glocks and was surprised to find I prefer the Glock, both Gen III and IV. Last weekend I had an opportunity to shoot a Glock 36 .45 ACP. I absolutely loved it. It will be my next carry pistol. Nice trigger, recoil no problem, and can be concealed. 0 -

Try to shoot as many as you can before you plunk down your $$! What feels good in the gun store, or gets rave reviews online or from friends, may be just right for you... or it may be a clunker that you're now losing money on at resale. 0
