Bert? - Winchester 71 348 Paul Jaeger

Came across a Winchester 71 in 348 (I believe the deluxe with longer tang). It is stamped serial # 10927. I was hoping Bert or someone could tell me a little about it. I have never come across one with a stock like this. Also, where the mount for the scope is attached to the gun it is stamped Paul Jaeger - Jenkintown, PA. On the bottom of the mount it is stamped 38 (see pictures below). I would appreciate comments and a valuation! Thanks guys. I apologize in advance, photobucket is fighting me tooth and nail.   Paul Jaeger was a well known gunsmith of his day. I was in his shop in Jenkintown PA once before his heirs sold out to Dunns in Tennessee. The Jaeger side mount was a contemporary of the G&H side mount, similar design a little less expensive.
  
  Actually a little MORE expensive, $34 versus $30 for G&H in 1970
  
  The monte carlo cheekpiece stock to line you up with the high mounted scope is aftermarket, perhaps made by Jaeger. It is not a Winchester stock even though they did put the Winchester pistol grip cap on it.
  
  I had to go back and look very close to see where the stock was spliced. I thought it was a bead line around the cheekpiece but it is a cut line.
  
  I won't guess a value.

  It looks to me from your photos that it's been reblued.
  
  In light of this, and D & Ting the receiver, plus restocking will have a negative affect on collectors value.

  The serial number tells us that it was manufactured in February of 1937. It is a Model 71 Deluxe rifle, but it has been obviously customized by Mr. Jaeger.
  
  The butt stock is the original stock, but it was modified (cut) to add the cheek piece. I agree with rufe-snow that it has been reblued and refinished.
  
  The "Winchester" collector value is minimal, but there may be others who would be interested in it due to its connection with Mr. Jaeger.
