    I'm gonna try the dishwasher for cleaning old, greasy action parts and whatever else will fit in there...........while she's at Bingo.
    Hope the hell there is no stains left!

    Wow, I forgot about that thread. I am too busy being attacked by a couple of guys with an axe to grind over in GD than to pay much attention to goings on here!

    I NEVER put any stock into the dishwasher which has any sort of collector value and that means even a faint cartouche. Old dirty stocks (you know, the kind with all of the black sticky oil-like substance on them) respond very nicely to a trip through the dishwasher and come out pretty clean. One thing; if the stock has any sort of crack it will definitely be enlarged by the hot water so keep that in mind. Otherwise the hot water can actually help lift out minor dents and fade away quite a few scratches. I leave my stocks to air dry out on my deck or down in my garage and I suggest making sure that they are completely bone dry before doing anything else to them.
