scope power recommendation
I am wanting to put a different scope on my 264 Win Mag that will allow me to shoot out to 500 yards, and yet still be functional for deer/antelope/coyote hunting.Currently, I have a Swift 4-12 x 40 on the rifle, which is a Ruger 77 Hawkeye. With this combo, I can shoot sub .5 moa, 3 shot groups at 100 yards, but would like to move into something different, perhaps a mil-dot or some type that has holdover points of some sort. I don't really want to break the bank but would like to stay in the $500 range. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

might research around the area of a 6-24 and I WOULD REALLY CONSIDER A sf (SIDE fOCUS)
SEVERAL COMPANIES COMING OUT WITH SUCH AND THE 6X POWER IS STILL LOW ENOUGH FOR REGULAR HUNTING AND THE 24x WILL GET YOUR TARGETS ZOOMED IN FOR LONG RANGE. (excuse the caps as it was locked on)
Nikon has I think maybe both a Buckmaster and maybe a Monarch!
The buckmaster has good optics.
I shoot coyotes at over 500 yards with a 264 win mag with a Nikon 4x16SF AO and i have a 6x24 old model Taco on a 223 and the 24X brings them in close, but the Tasco is no good for early morling and late evenings due to poor light gathering and even on cloudy days the old model Tasco leaves lot to be desired. I think the old Tasco is the old Mag IV model! ($80 when new several years ago)0 -
I have Burris on most , but since they rocketed in price i tried BSA 8-32x44 , with 30mm tube, 300- 600yds on range, stunning value. 0 -
It doesn't seem to be available any more, but this is the scope I have on my Remington Model 700 5-R Milspec .308

I think maybe this scope is on sale for around $320 at maybe MidwayUSA reloading.
I'm not associated with Midway nor their sales dept, just a customer!

Thanks Okie743 for the lead. I'll check that one out. Also looking at a Bushnell tactical 5-15. I had a mil-dot on the 264 before but it was only 12 power. Really like that reticle. Once you lelarn to use it, it is really useful for a long ways out there. I just found the 12 power to be a bit on the short side for looking way out there. Thanks again. 0
