Hangfire was right. Stevens model 66 bolt.

The rear body does un-screw. The lifter housing & the front part of the bolt are 1 piece.

You're welcome Leonard, glad that did it.. It's my understanding that one of He Dogs relatives was instrumental in it's design.. That would explain its' awkward operation !!
