Colt 1911 Any collectable value?
From the info I have gathered, this 1911 looks like it has the markings for a good Colt/Remington 1917, with a ser. # of 173xxx.
BUT, since the slide is in this condition, does it have any collectable value? Or is it just a shooter? Slide has "some" shallow pits, but is mostly cosmetic, with the finish being the way you see it. The frame and barrel are in pretty good condition, comparitively speaking.
Thanks in advance.

Besides the pitting, the sights have been replaced. Only value would be as a shooter, IMHO. 0 -
The ejection port has also been lowered. 0 -
That's what I thought.
Thanks guys.0 -

what a shame ! i have a "1911 U.S.Navy" slide i got in a box of goodies that looks similar, except the corrosion is mostly around the ejection port, from shooting corrosive ammo and not being cleaned properly.., if at all. 0
