Stith mounts
I just bumped into a rifle today with Stith mounts, for a very old scope. Question is are these worth anything on their own, collectable?? I know condition is everything, but are there people looking for them. Approx. (range) value. Any help???

"Question is are these worth anything on their own".........somewhat, some like to set up a 'vitage sporter', also it is the only way to mount a scope on an older Win. m-70 or m-54 without drilling and taping the rear receiver ring. I sold a similar set-up for a m98 mauser on the auction side for about $70 a year ago. You see them on e-barf from time to time. 0 -
I sold one for a model 70 for over $100 about a year ago, wish I kept it 0 -
Those fitting Savage model 99s go for between $100 and $150. Only way to mount an old scope on a 99 without damage to the receiver.
Edit: Got mine two years ago on Fleabay, but for 3/4" scope. Period scope for the rifle. Could not have gone $500.[:0]0 -
I sold two sets that I had for the Savage 99, both for 1" dia scopes, one new in box and the other like new but no box, both went for over $500 on eBay. That was within the last 6 months. In other words, yes they are valuable with the value depending on the rifle model and the scope diameter. 7/8" and 3/4" models are hard to sell due to lack of scopes.

Im glad to see yooper is up to date on savage 99 stith mounts. Id sure like to find one for $100 to $150 but Im guessing the chance of that is remote. Goes to show that two forum members have different ideas of value and reality-by a long shot. 0
