Question about a SXS Mercury shotgun
Had a customer bring in a Mercury (made in Spain) side by side shotgun. It is a model 1032. He bought it at an auction and paid way too much for it, over a thousand dollars! Anyway, the chambers were bored out to 8 gauge, for whatever reason, but when I put a gauge at the muzzle, it still shows 10 gauge. Is this safe to shoot with an 8 gauge chambering and 10 gauge muzzle?? There are no current sources for 8 gauge ammo, are there? Does anyone make an adaptor to take it from 8 gauge to 12 gauge? The Blue Book value on this shotgun, in 100% original condition is $400. The customer was extemely pissed off that he had been fleeced at the auction, but has no one to blame but himself. Buyer beware!

That gun is an accident waiting to happen. You couldnt pay me enough to shoot it. Do your friend a favor and tell him to hang it on the wall. $1000 is a pretty good burn, but he only has himself to blame. 0 -
Thanks, we had the customer come back in and take it home, too much of a liability for us to sell. 0
