does anyone have information on this gunsmith? i haave a double barrel shotgun, with an underlug arm that breaks open the action, it looks like a percussion, two hammers, two triggers and well engraved. no pitting or rusting, and looks like damascus barrels. I'd like any info i can get on the shotgun.

Henry Drew born 1817 is listed as a "Gunmaker and Ironmonger" in the 1851-1891 censuses of Romsey, Hampshire, England.
If you remove the barrels and view underside, there will probably be Birmingham proofmarks.0 -
there are two "x" marks on the top of the receiver where the barrels rest, and a horseshoe. Do these mean anything? thanks to everyone who answered my questions. 0 -

The two X marks are probably the Birmingham proofmarks, which are tiny renditions of this stamp:

There should be a view mark with only the letter V in top of the crossed scepters, in addition to the B P C proof mark shown.0
