Tell them you're shipping machine parts. It's perfectly legal.

I quit UPS about 4 years ago, read a post on here about shipping USPS and have been happy ever since.
I pay my FFL $40 to transfer and ship all of my handguns, he ships them USPS Priority Mail. I charge $40 shipping on all of my handgun auctions, so it's a wash.

USPS will ship handguns(for a dealer)at around $20-25 or slightly more if you need more insurance.

Must be a factor in ups stock losses and fedex gains.

Yup. And if it gets lost/damaged when you file an insurance claim it will be denied.

And unlike what he posted, you must disclose it is a firearm.

Okay, so dumb question again. Does UPS say you must 'declare' it a firearm? I was always under the impression you had to.

And I didn't know about UPS' rule change. I shipped another handgun through them a couple years ago and it was only $30 something.

    Edit:

I found the answer I didn't want to know. You must declare it a firearm if it contains a receiver. No receiver, no firearm, then you just have gun parts, but don't have to ship "next day".

So, not having an account with UPS, do the FFL's that do get a discount?
