help Win 94 fancy '07
I do need help....Regarding a Winchester 94 rifle mfg in 1907. My question is: Would Winchester have sold the rifle as a "Fancy Sporting Rifle" It does not have a pistol grip stock but is checkered although the checkering shows some "overruns"....It has standard looking walnut,,, It is my understanding that to be called a "Fancy Sporting Rifle" the stock and forend would have been a higher grade walnut...The rifle would have had a pistol grip stock.....And the stock would be checkered...I would much appreciate any information to validate my understanding. Thank You

The rifle you are describing is not a "Fancy Sporting Rifle". Instead, it sounds like an ordinary Model 1894 that somebody (other than Winchester) tried to enhance.
A true "Fancy Sporting Rifle" will have a pistol grip butt stock, both the forend and butt stock will be deluxe (2X or 3X) grain, and both will be checkered.0
