9mm Largo & 9x23 ammo interchangable?

Folks: Is it safe to shoot 9X23 MM ammo in a Star Modello Super?
Barrel is marked 9MM Largo. Any other ammo safe? Thankyou

  No! Spanish pistols weren't designed for a high-pressure cartridge like the 9 X 23. Stick to the largo ammo for them, even if you have to pay a custom loader to get it.

  Thankyou Rufe.I got a few boxes of 9X23 along with the pistol.
  I will stick to 9MM Largo.

  If you handload, the cases are dimensionally acceptable loaded to 9mm Largo specs.

  most star 9mm largo pistols will also shoot .38 auto (note, NOT .38 super), some might need some slight slide face work as the rim is a few 1000's larger

  9x23 Winchester is loaded to rifle-like pressures, IIRC close to 50,000 PSI, and the older Spanish guns simply weren't designed to handle those pressures.
  
  I wouldn't try it. . .not even one round.
  
  As mentioned, the 9x23 *CASES* are dimensionally virtually identical to the 9mm largo ones, and are suitable to be loaded in the Spanish guns, but obviously you have to load them to appropriate largo-like pressures.

  The 9x23 is dimensionally similar enough to a few other 9mm loads (including 9mm luger) that you can probably get away with firing them in an emergency without blowing up your gun or yourself, but you still probably shouldn't do it otherwise. At best you'll get poor accuracy and function, and at worst you'll increase wear and tear on the gun and/or cause premature parts failure.
