    You might want to find a "Super Bearcat" that has the steel frame instead of the alloy used on the regular Bearcat. It would hold up better to magnum ammo.

    Ruger recalled only the first 1,000 convertible Bearcats due to timing problems; later convertibles did not have a problem. Highly sought after by collectors.

    But, I don't know why they stopped making them; must have been a good reason.

    Check the latest Guns and Ammo. There is a half page on a Bearcat converted to .327 mag.

    It was my understanding they stopped them because of flame cutting of the frame at the front of the cylinder, the same problem as the .357 maximum.
    If that is the case I would wonder if it might be caused by having too short of a cylinder?
