Walther DSM-34 edited to add a few pics

Can you guys give me any information about this Walther DSM-34.

Edit 3:Williwm: those are very nice rifles. Can you tell me how many different types of these rifles there are, and explain the rifles in your picture as well? The story I was told with this rifle was it was picked up off a Hitler youth after we had made it into Germany. But it is fourth hand, and I have no way to prove it.


Edit 4: No, the only number I can find on the bolt is 227. It is stamped on the bolt handle itself where it meets the bolt body. see below

Edit:If I get brave enough tonight I may try to take it out of the stock. It is in great shape though, and I would hate to mess up a screw head. I will keep you posted.

  Nice rifle! Not much is known about Walther production, there appears to be two separate serial number ranges. Would have been produced sometime between 1934 til WWII early years. It's estimated that maybe 11,000 were produced by Walther. About a dozen companies made or assembled the DSM34 rifles.

  Single shot military trainer used during the mid 30's. Looks to be in good shape and all there. Being made by Walther would be a plus as far as collectors value.
  
  
  EDIT #1, The NSKK marking,( National Socialist Motor Corps ), on the stock is quite interesting. I have seen it on Walther PP pistols, but wasn't aware of it being marked on .22 trainers.

  The first serial number range runs 50,000 to 60,000. The second series runs roughly 10.000 to 20,000 with a "D" suffix. My Walther is early in the first series, may I ask which range your rifle is in?

  I have the Erma twin sister and love to shoot it. Mine is missing the cleaning rod but has a shoot threw front sight protector.

  onemanmob, thanks, I deleted the photo as I felt it would hijack your thread.Mauser had the highest production of the DSMs. Several companies made only a handful. No total figures are known. Mine include a "HJ"(Hitler Youth)marked one, others in the photo was a BSW, Erma, Mauser with a ZF41 scope, Walther.
  I have not kept up with prices the last few years, so wouldn"t feel comfortable saying what yours might be worth.Does the bolt number match the rifle?
  
  I just saw the stock marking, but I wear bifocals and can't make out all of it. I tried saving the photo and rotating it, but can't get that to work. Anyway, some markings can add considerably to the value.
  If that marking is NSKK, it translates to the "National Socialist Motor Transport Corps.
  
  The bolts are commonly stamped with only the last 3 digits of the serial number, so unfortunately, the bolt is not matching. Nevertheless thats a fine rifle.
  
  I'll get out my Walther and examine it tomorrow, The number in the stock sling cutout is not where the Mauser makes are numbered to the rifle, Walthers may be different though, or it may be a rack number.

  My Walther has a single "5" in the sling cut-out. A single digit would lead me to think that the numbers in the cut-out are unrelated to the serial number.
  
  Mauser DSM34s are(at least the ones I have) numbered in the barrel channel with the rifles serial number.I'm curious as to whether the Walther is numbered in the channel, but don't want to take the stock off. Maybe someone will chime in with with an answer.
  If you put it on auction, I'd say it will sell well, good luck,mw
