Black powder pistol manufacturing
I've been asked to create 3-d models and engineering drawings of a single shot, 62 cal, black power pistol replica. That in itself would be perfectly legal (I believe) but what about manufacturing one. Is something this old still held to the legal standards of modern firearm manufacturing?

Nope, feel free to make it.
Heck, you can make your own modern firearm too, as long as it doesn't fall under the NFA. And you can make those (SBR, SBS, AOW, DD - no full auto though) as long as you get your tax stamp first.
For modern, non-NFA stuff, there are issues if you plan to sell it...0 -
Even the old iron barrels needed to be "proofed" to meet safety standards. If you use substandard metals that don't both meet and exceed the pressures of blackpowder, you could find yourself in legal hot water if someone is injured or killed.
Unless you have the availability of a certified metallurgist with expertise in firearms manufacturing, I would stick to pre-made barrels.0 -
After receiving some .pdfs, I find that this is a circa 1350 AD Tannenberg hand gun. I'll have to Google that. B.T.W., the orginal barrel, I was sent a pic of one, was cast bronze. 12" long & .62 cal. 0 -
