civil war bayonet

i have a cook and brothers civil war bayonet,seen one just like on antique road show,1800 2000$ which it had clip gone for locking on barrel,exact same bayonet any more info would be app.thanx.mine is in good cond with all parts

  Need hands on by a pro to authenticate. To much CSA stuff has been faked over the years, because they are so sought after by collectors.
  
  You could post quality photos here, but likely you would still need a very knowledgeable dealer or advanced collector to personally verify it's original, not a fake.

  I would not rely on any prices quoted for either antique firearms-especially Colts- accoutrements. bayonets or swords on Antiques Roadshow. Their prices are at high retail at best!
  Unfortunately, as many collectors have found, this leads to the person who finds a similar artical to think that they have found the Holy Grail and that their retirement is going to be completly funded. What most people, including many collectors, don't realize is that what they (ARS) recommend to insure the thing for is actually twice retail+++.
