How to refinish Argentine Hi power
Folks: I would like to refinish an Argentine Hi Power.
It has the original flat black finish but is well used and abused.No rust or pitting,just the black finish is damaged.
It is a great shooter and I would like to make it look a little better.Thankyou

The finish is most likely black paint. Completely disassemble the pistol and vapor blast it with plastic beads. This will remove the original paint without harming the steel surface which might be parkerized. Obtain black paint or any other color you desire from Brownells gunsmith supply and repaint the pistol, following instructions that come with the paint. 0 -

I wouldn't do it at home unless you could vapor blast the old paint off. Paint remover chemicals and abrasives would probably scratch through the parkerize base finish on the steel.0 -

Any local machine shop can bead blast it. I get guns done locally for $20 (I disassemble them beforehand). 0 -
I have nickeled an argentine and it looks and performes great. I have heard about the metal being suspect but comparing it to Belgian 80 series it was much harder. Use a paint stripper and then degrease, then decide what you want for finish. 0 -
have a auto paint and body shop do it for you ,they can at least bead blast it for you.[;)] 0 -
