davis 9mm
Anyone have any info on this gun? It looks like the one in the link except its a 9mm. I thought the model was a DLB9 or DL89.
Could anyone tell me the value of one??

The 9mm was known as the DLB-9 and I remember that model was introduced in 1995 @ $110 MSRP. The pistols were of decent quality but their handling characteristics were simply awful. The shape of the grip made for a poor grasping area and the plastic stocks were so slippery that it was hard to get a good grasp on the pistol no matter what you did. When firing the gun the back strap would dig into the palm of your hand and the safety would rip your thumb if it was grasping the pistol. The pistols locked up well but rattled around and were very loose when you opened the action. The trigger was simply awful; it must have a a fifteen pound pull and the narrow 1/4" wide trigger only made it seem worse. Accuracy was even worse than I expected because the barrels were not even close to being "regulated"and the vertical spread between the top and bottom barrels must have been a 12 inches at a ten foot firing distance. Because the 9mm round is rimless extraction is not straightforward and it took a considerable amount of wiggling to get teh extractor to engage the grooves on rounds in each barrel. On the plus side, the pistol would fire any and all standard velocity rounds that could be chambered, although velocity was quite low.
We sold quite a few of these at my old gun shop and no one ever brought one back so reliability must have been good but I don't have much positive to say about the pistol and would never own one myself.0 -
I have a blued/painted one in .22 mag that have had for years. Lost it in the field once, found it a year later still working. Left it in the bed of the truck and it rolled around with dirt and rust for a couple of years before I found it again. still works. Had it in a tool box on a bass boat for a couple of years, had to spray liquid wrench in it to make the hammer come free but it still works. I currently have it in the garage as a snake gun. Probably killed 50 or more varmints when I ran a trap line cause I carried it in my pocket all the time.
I think I paid $35 for it back in the late 80's, probably worth in the $50 - $100 now (a newer one, not mine !). Short range, horrible trigger pull, minimal sight but for killing a snake with shot shell or a varmint raccoon or possum with hollowpoints at 2 to 3 yard range it worked.

I have had one in .32 ACP for a long time. It goes bang, bang EVERY time & actually shoots closer to point of aim than I would have thought.
I bought one of the ones in .38 Special sight unseen. It was huge, ugly & I hated it right off. Sold it soon after.
I should mention that there is a problem with extraction of fired cartridges. The extractor will override the case & it becomes very difficult to extract the case. Fired cases should be removed without useing the ejector. I might suspect the same could be true in 9 mm.
It's obviously not likely a problem with rimmed cases.
I reread Mark Christian's review & the 9mm does have the same problem as the .32. It's best to stick something down the barrel to eject the empties. The extractor does work for unfired rounds.0
