Why click adjust a scope for distance or windage?
I don't understand the theory about making scope adjustments for windage or elevation for shooting game.
As a for instance, if I am actually sighted in for 200 yards with just about any modern rifle the drop past that point is known plus or minus a fudge factor based on atmospherics. If you are shooting at a target at 400 yards you hold a touch high, on fur and let er' rip, a hit is almost guaranteed with an accurate rifle. Wind drift can be adjusted out by holding on the neck or the butt side of the game animal.
Now for the confusion; why adjust the scope for far off targets? Is not Kentucky windage and educated guesses for hold over going to assure a hit at 600 yards if you know your ballistics? Why fiddle-fart around with clicks on a scope when you know the dimensions of the target???
I can see clicking and clicking some more if you are taking multiple shots at set targets but I have seldom seen game just stand there for the 12th round....

After 400 yds the bullet is dropping so fast that it may not be possible to guess the correct hold over. Clicks on a good scope are alot more reliable when matching what the range finder is telling you. Even better, a tactical scope calibrated to the cartridge. Kentucky windage is all i ever used to 400-450 yds, with a zero 2* high @ 200 yards. 0
