Red or Green Laser?
I have a Marlin 39A, .22LR that I want to use for night and low light varmit hunting. I am looking to attach a scope with a laser sight and was told I should use a green laser. Others have said a red laser would be better. Can somone tell me what is the difference and which would work the best. I will be using a rail mount on the top of the 39A. Thank you.

your eye will see the green one better. 0 -
Green ones cost more, but can be seen further. 0 -
Thanks a lot but now I need more help. Looking through the auction sites at scopes with lasers they make reference to different rails for mounting. They refer to Weaver, Tri Rail and other names. I don't know what type I have on my Marlin 39A. It is just a flat piece that mounts to the top of the rifle with 2 set screws. Can somone tell me what it is called so I make sure I get the right mounting? I am looking at Item #271353877, a Boar Buster 4x30, because I also have an SKS but I don't know it I could use it on both guns or not. If someone could take a look at that auction and advise me I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I'm curious. Did they make the green for the color blind foks? Some where I heard color blind folks see better in the dark.
Since it's at night either will do. I'd go with the money savings.0 -
Most 22 RIMFIRE rifles use a 3/8 inch grooved mount some made into the receiver . But if the receiver is DRILLED & TAPPED then a WEAVER mount would most likely be what you need . The other types you list are
TACHICAL and that word alone will increase the PRICE. [V]0 -

Green is more visible in daylight and it is less harsh on the eyes at night or in low level light conditions. 0 -

May not be legal for hunting, it isn't in NY.0 -
The Green laser can be seen better in daylight, or all light conditions, for that matter, as they are higher energy. Higher energy means they eat more batteries also. If your Marlin 39A is drilled and tapped on top, put a Weaver style or Picatinny Style(same as weaver, but with more mounting posistions) base on it. Then use the Burris Tactical rings to mount your 1 inch tube scope. Use the Tactical ring top half accessory from Burris that has a Picatinny rail on it, to mount your laser to.
