Ruger Red Label

Anyone know if you can buy 20ga barrel assembly that will go into the 12ga receiver. in other words do they interchange? That Would ROCK.

  I have a older red label with 26inch m/ic barrels fixed chokes.Want to shoot skeet with it.Will I need to have screw in chokes installed or will this gun be alright to use.I shot a pateren and at 40yd's in a 30inch circle 95% & 98% in each tube.I know skeet is shot at a shorter range but will that make that much difference in chokes.Also by adding chokes to a fixed choke gun would that devalue the gun. thanks for any help on this.

  In my opinion It would not hurt the value. The ruger is a fine gun. However it does not have the same collector interest as say a Winchester model 21 or a Browning Superposed. just make sure you pick a quality gun smith to modify your Shot Gun

  Like perry shooter has stated, the Ruger's are not as collectable as the other brands. They are not as expensive either. If I were going to have the tubes installed, I would have it done by Briley, no questions asked. They are the very best at this, in my opinion.
  
  All that said, the Ruger's are not as expensive, as other's, and you could very well find a nice 26 inch gun, of newer manufacture, that already has the tubes. Look on the auction side, and you might be surprised. In all, they might turn out to be, not that much more expensive than the modifications you are seeking. You might even be able to grab a different gauge, like a 20 gauge.

  if it is a blue receiver don't do it those are more collectible, if it's stainless you ahead but I think you'd be better off selling it and then buying one with screw in's Having choke work done never pays off

  In case you didn't know Ruger has discontinued the Red Label--I don't think it will hurt the value if it's done right and as long as the gun stays in decent condition you could generally get a decent price for it if you need to sell it.
