Colt model 357 mag

I have a Colt model 357 mag ser # 6923 and was wondering if any one can tell me the year it was made and also on the left side by the trigger guard there is a small triangle with a p inside what does this mean? Any info is appreciated. Terrill

  1954, first year of production.

  The P in the triangle means Verified Proof.
