Plastic Safety Button MCA Mannlicher Schoenauer

My plastic safety button on one of my MCA Mannlicher Schoenauers snapped off at the retaining clip. From my internet browsing, it appears to be a common occurence. Anyone have any experience of making the safety button out of steel or know someone who has?
