Pre-64 Model 94 Winchester In Box Unfired?

When looking at a firearm that appears to be unfired, what would you look for? Couldn't they all just be cleaned real well? What do you look for to tell if it has been fired or not? This Winchester is very clean but what should I be looking for? Thanks.

    There is no such thing as an "unfired" Winchester firearm. Winchester fired (1) proof load through the gun, and then 6 - 12 more rounds to verify the accuracy and set the sights. ,

    I do not like the looks of that gun. A true NIB Winchester Model 94 would still have its front sight hood, and the rear sight elevator would not be installed backwards (as it is on that gun). It could be the poor lighting in the pictures, but the receiver frame looks like it has been reblued. There are signs of light buffing and polishing on it. If the inside of the bore is blued (and it looks like it is), that is another sign that it has been refinished.

    I have a follow-up question for you...

    Is it a coincidence that the seller's user name is "IsaBailey2009" and that your name is Eric "Bailey", or are you really both the same person?

    plus the seller and questioner both are from CA?? A second coincidence! Damn those are horrible pic's, gotta learn how to fix a pic when the camera misreads the light

    Sonora is just down South along the front from you a bit.

    You ought to know the guy mighty well, just down the road some, and the population there being 4,500 or less.

    If I were the one having all the questions, as you do, why not go down there abouts and catch a first hand gander of them pieces ... with your own eyes.

    Maybe while there you'd take some decent photos of his pricey pieces for everyone to gaze upon? Seems that he is doing an injustice to those rare rigs, what, with all of those fuzzy out of focus shots and all.

    Absolutely fake, in my opinion, some of the screw holes have been wallowed out by polishing. Very sketchy.

    He's not that freeken clever. He could have used any name he wanted on his profile when he enrolled in the GB forums. Using the name Eric Bailey was a major fail to say the least.

    I have no dog in this fight, just curious. Sounds as though y'all suspect or have spotted something but what I see is the seller has perfect feed-back. I on ocassion buy smaller items on GB and now I feel like I'm missing something so what's taking place here with this item that y'all see that a buyer should be wary of ?[?] Thanks for any response. Maybe your answers will help others on here too. [;)]
