  That SIG serial appears to be from a P229.
  
  Off the top of my head - early 90's.
  
  EDIT: rufe-snow - Certain components for this model were imported for US assembly, but there are no German manufactured/proofed 229's.

  If the Sig is German made, one of the proof marks will be a coded date.
  
  EDIT #1, If "AB" is the German coded proof date? It would date the SIG to 2001.
