Remington 40X question
I have a remington 40-X 22lr target with a 'B' after the serial number. Is mine a 40-XB or a 40-X model?

I am not an expert regarding your question and rather than me research your answer for you. How about contacting Remington directly? They have always been readily available to me by mail, or better and quicker by email, or best and quickest by telephone!

If it has a "B" suffix, it's a 40-XB based on the Model 700 action. The bolt handle should have a rectangular cross-section and the bolt knob should be oval and checkered. The 40-X was based on the 721 action and the bolt handle will be round in cross-section and the knob will be round and uncheckered. If it's a CMP rifle, some had mismatched bolts, i.e.- a 40-XB with a 40-X type bolt and vice versa. The same holds true for the stocks. Hope this helps. 0 -
